The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, urged the Human Rights Council on Thursday to launch an independent investigation into the ongoing deadly violence against protesters in Iran, where security forces have used “live ammunition, birdshot and other metal pellets, tear gas and batons.”
